Gay bars located outside the downtown Buffalo core are an interesting study.  From the Red Spot in Lackawanna to the Senate on Rhode Island Street to Granny Goodness on Hertel Avenue, these bars lured gay men to unfamiliar neighborhoods.

Nonstop anti-gay harassment from the local residents closed all of these places.  The worst incident was a bullet coming through the front window of the Red Spot while patrons were inside.

Another non-downtown gay bar was Satan's Corner located in a residential neighborhood on the east side near the New York Central Train Terminal.  Does anyone remember this bar?  Some people say the bar was one of several "Dennis" bars.  Why did this bar close down?

I remember this bar, but, I do not know why it closed. Does anyone remember The Genesee Hotel Bar, (mid to late 1960's), now the site of the Hyatt Regency ? The bar was dark but, had a super juke box? I have many memories there; my first bar.
